ABOUT

Custom Design- Lean Mfg Systems (CDLMS, Inc.) was founded by Michael J. Gamache in order to answer a need in the U.S. for Lean Manufacturing Systems & Automation. Mike has many years of experience working with manufacturing companies; from companies making small electronics, electrical appliances and consumer products, to electro-magnetic generators, automotive, and aerospace products.

Our customers, and many other U.S. manufacturing companies, are rethinking their strategies since learning that the true cost of off shoring goes beyond piece price accounting. Forced to recognize the costs of transportation, rework, poor quality, holding costs, time to order, etc., these companies have identified competitive advantages to products that are "Made in the U.S.". So much so that the word "Reshoring" has been created. Reshoring- bringing back manufacturing processes to the United States.

To help our customers create those competitive advantages, we design, build, install, and support systems for robotic assembly, robotic machine tending, robotic welding, robotic painting, semi-automatic work stations, presses and fixtures all combined with Lean Manufacturing Principles: Single-Piece Flow, Error Proofing, Quick Change-Over, Visual Workplace, 5S, Waste Reduction, and Value Stream Mapping.

From concept to creation, our goal is to produce lean manufacturing systems combined with today's best available and most reliable technologies that will give you increased productivity, cycle consistency, accurate and repeatable processes, added versatility, higher quality, less waste, and, ultimately, reduced cost.

CUSTOMIZED EQUIPMENT = MAXIMIZED ROI

WHAT IS LEAN MANUFACTURING?

Lean manufacturing is a management philosophy that focuses on the reduction of eight specific wastes:

OVERPRODUCTION

Push versus Pull Manufacturing; producing parts before they are needed anywhere throughout a process.

TRANSPORTATION

Moving parts from one part of the facility to another between operations.

MOTION

Walking, searching, reaching and any type of excessive handling.

WAITING

Unbalanced operations that create bottle necks; waiting in between machine cycles; waiting for materials; machine downtime; machine change-over time.

NVA PROCESSING

Over engineering and non-value added processes; processes that do not add perceived value to the customer; processes needing to be combined.

INVENTORY

Excessive raw material storage, WIP and finished goods inventory.

DEFECTS

Scrap created during manufacturing; customer returned products for any reason.

UNDERUTILIZED TALENT AND IDEAS

Not involving your people and their ideas for improvement into the Lean Transformation process.
